I use to think that because I am paying for cheap auto insurance, I already can sit back and relax. It was not until I was involved in an actual car accident that I was able to see through the flaws of my current car insurance policy. Because I thought I could save more, I chose to purchase Personal Liability over Full Coverage.

For years, I thought it was the best but after the accident; I was required to shell out money way more than I can actually afford. I paid for my hospital bills, doctor¡¯ fees, x-rays, among other things which equally consumed every penny I have saved. I have learned the hard way the real definition of the policy, Personal Liability. What was stated in my car insurance policy (it will only cover the damages and hospital bills of the other driver involved), was what it really means.

I have learned the hard way that cheap is not always the best. I have also learned that I can actually ¡°customize¡± my car insurance policy in accordance to my needs. What I am trying to say is, I can arrange the terms in my policy to the things I believe and to where I actually can benefit from in the long run. I may be having better auto insurance quotes but what is it for if during the time I desperately need a claim, it cannot cover my needs. What¡¯s more sad about this experience is that it will take you by surprise. Accidents do happen during times you least expect it, right? So the emergency fund or savings you are allotting for other things can be gone in seconds.

At present, I have shifted from Personal Liability to Full Coverage. I may be paying slightly higher but at least I now have peace of mind that in case faced again with road mayhem, I will be able to say that I am truly protected.
